B.E.S.T. at Work

B.E.S.T. was founded in 2010 as a 501(c)3 to raise money to fund educational programs at the Beulah School of Natural Sciences.

We focus on supporting the School’s arts, music and environmental education by funding the following:

  • Outdoor Education

    B.E.S.T. funds every grade to work with rangers at the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center Mountain and River campuses four times a year.  Middle School works on team building, snow shoeing and avalanche science and then pond ecology and water quality in the spring.  B.E.S.T. pay CSU-Pueblo Outdoor Pursuits for High Ropes team building and water sports like canoeing, kayaking and SUP with hiking and plant identification and mountain biking. B.E.S.T. also funds field trips for classes to visit the Pueblo Zoo.

  • Science Curriculum

    B.E.S.T. purchases K-5 science curriculum and lab materials.  

  • Science Olympiad

    B.E.S.T. pays for supplies, entry fees, shirts, food and lodging for the Middle School Science Olympiad team.

    The Beulah School placed 8th in the state of Colorado in 2024 finishing in the top 5 in seven different events: Can’t Judge A Powder, Codebusters, Dynamic Planet, Fast Facts, Microbe Mission, Road Scholar, and Wheeled Vehicle

  • Mystery Science

  • River Watch of CO

    Statewide volunteer water quality monitoring program operated in partnership between River Science and CPW.  B.E.S.T. pays for students to be trained and for shipping of samples.

  • Ormao

    B.E.S.T. matches funds for the Colorado Arts Partnership grants that allowed for Ormao Dance Company to be in residency from 2018 to 2021.    

  • Opera Colorado

    B.E.S.T. paid to have Opera Colorado perform for our students for three years.

  • Shakespeare

    Shakespeare in Schools from UCCS worked with our Middle School classes.  

  • Arts Education

    Music, Theater, Dance and Visual Arts has no District funding.  B.E.S.T. pays for instruments, music, lighting, costumes, brushes, paints, paper, pastels, etc. for K-8 Arts instruction.

  • Library

    Book Club Donation

  • School Gardens

    Donations for the school gardens, grounds and greenhouse are managed through B.E.S.T.  B.E.S.T. helps to buy plants, seeds, garden amendments and tools. 

  • B.E.S.T. Care 4 Kids (BC4K) After School Program

    B.E.S.T. funds an after school program with an outstanding director who provides snacks, homework support and activities for families needing after school care.
